ACA Marketplace Health Insurance

Most Floridians who buy their own health insurance qualify for financial help. We help you see the real, after-subsidy price of every plan you're eligible for — then pick the one that fits your doctors, medications, and budget.

Compare subsidized Marketplace plans, check if you qualify for premium tax credits, and enroll with a licensed agent — at no extra cost.

You almost certainly qualify for help

Under current rules, Marketplace subsidies extend well into the middle class — a household earning six figures can still receive assistance depending on age and local plan prices. The only way to know your number is to run it, and that's exactly what a free consultation does.

We enter your household size, ages, ZIP code, and estimated income, then show the after-credit premium for each carrier side by side. No guessing at the checkout screen.

Silver plans hide the best deal for many families

If your income falls in the Cost-Sharing Reduction range, a Silver plan can quietly carry far lower deductibles and out-of-pocket maximums than its sticker price suggests — often making it a better value than a Gold plan. It's the kind of detail an online quote engine won't flag for you.

The metal tiers, in plain English

Marketplace plans are grouped into metal tiers by how you and the insurer split costs. Higher-metal plans cost more per month but far less when you use care:

TierPremiumOut-of-pocketBest for
BronzeLowestHighestYoung, healthy, mainly want catastrophic protection
SilverModerateModerate (extra savings if income qualifies)Most popular — the tier where subsidies work hardest
GoldHigherLower copays & deductiblesRegular care or multiple prescriptions
PlatinumHighestLowestFrequent care or expensive treatments

Who qualifies — and when you can enroll

You can typically use the Marketplace if you don't have affordable employer coverage — including if you're self-employed or 1099, recently lost job-based coverage, are between jobs, aging off a parent's plan at 26, or an early retiree not yet on Medicare. Income-based subsidies run for individuals earning roughly $15,000–$60,000/year (higher for families).

  • Open Enrollment — roughly November 1 to January 15; anyone can enroll or switch plans.
  • Special Enrollment — triggered by a qualifying event (losing coverage, marriage, divorce, a baby, a move, or an income change).

We check your doctors and drugs first

A cheap premium is no bargain if your primary-care doctor is out of network or your prescription isn't on the formulary. Before you enroll, we confirm your providers participate and price your specific medications on each plan.

Not eligible for subsidies? There's still a path

If your income is too high for Marketplace tax credits, a PPO indemnity plan can sometimes cost far less than an unsubsidized Marketplace plan, with no network restrictions. We'll compare that option honestly against the Marketplace so you see the real trade-off.

FAQ

Common questions

Does using an agent cost more than enrolling myself?

No. Plan prices are set by the carriers and are identical whether you enroll on your own or with a licensed agent. Our guidance is at no additional cost to you.

How do I know if I qualify for a subsidy?

Subsidies are based on your household income and size — generally between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level, though help now extends higher. We calculate your exact subsidy so you know your real, after-credit price before you commit.

When can I enroll?

Open Enrollment runs roughly November 1 to January 15 for coverage starting January 1. Outside that window you can enroll if you have a qualifying life event — losing coverage, moving, marriage, a new baby, and more — which opens a Special Enrollment Period.

What if my income changes during the year?

Subsidies are reconciled on your tax return, so it's important to report income changes. We'll walk you through how to update your estimate so you don't owe a surprise at tax time.

How much does it cost to work with Mere Benefits?

Nothing extra. Plan prices are set by the carriers and are identical whether you enroll on your own or with a licensed agent — we're paid by the carriers, so our guidance is free to you.

How do I get started?

Call or text (904) 654-5450, email info@merebenefits.com, or use our contact form. We'll set up a relaxed, no-pressure conversation — in person on the First Coast, or by phone and video.

Are you independent, or tied to one insurance company?

Independent. We aren't captive to a single insurer, so we compare the options across the carriers we represent and recommend what fits you — not what pays us most.

Will I have to change doctors?

Not if we can help it. Before recommending a plan we confirm your doctors are in-network and your prescriptions are covered, so keeping your care is part of the decision.

Can you help by phone and video, or only in person?

Both. We meet clients in person across Northeast Florida and Camden County, GA, and serve all 11 of our licensed states by phone and video.
