Mental Health & Telemedicine Coverage

Mental health is health. The right plan makes it easy — and affordable — to talk to a therapist, see a psychiatrist, or reach a doctor by video at 10 p.m. without a long drive or a huge bill. We help you compare what's actually covered before you enroll.

Plans and supplemental options that make therapy, psychiatry, and virtual doctor visits genuinely accessible — not just technically covered.

Covered isn't the same as accessible

Almost every ACA-compliant plan covers mental health and substance-use care as an essential benefit — but the copays, provider networks, and visit limits vary widely. We compare the details that decide whether you'll actually use the benefit, like whether your therapist is in network and what a session really costs.

Telemedicine has changed the math

Many plans now include low-cost or $0 virtual visits — for both urgent care and behavioral health. For busy families, that can turn a half-day ordeal into a ten-minute call. We flag which plans make virtual care easy and which bury it behind high copays.

Standalone telehealth & mental-health memberships

If you want affordable virtual care without waitlists — or to supplement an existing plan — there are membership options delivered through the Teladoc network with $0 per-visit fees on most plans. These are supplemental benefit plans, not health insurance (no deductibles, referrals, or prior authorizations):

FAQ

Common questions

Do all health plans cover mental health?

ACA-compliant plans must cover mental health and substance-use services as an essential health benefit, and federal parity rules require they be treated comparably to medical care. The difference between plans is in networks, copays, and limits — which is exactly what we help you compare.

Is the membership option health insurance?

No. The New Benefits and Mind Your Health memberships are supplemental benefit plans, not health insurance — they don't replace major medical coverage. They provide affordable telehealth access through the Teladoc network, with no deductibles, referrals, or prior authorizations, and a 30-day cancellation period.

What's the difference between the Standard/Premium plans and Mind Your Health?

Standard and Premium include Teladoc Mental Health — licensed therapists and counselors at $0 per visit. Mind Your Health goes further with psychologists and psychiatrists, medication management, a personal coach, and crisis outreach. If you need psychiatric medication management, Mind Your Health is the stronger choice. (Therapy is available for members 12+; psychiatrist visits require age 18+.)

Is telehealth cheaper than an office visit?

Often, yes. Many plans price virtual visits below in-person care, and some include $0 telehealth. We'll show you each plan's telehealth cost before you choose.

How much does it cost to work with Mere Benefits?

Nothing extra. Plan prices are set by the carriers and are identical whether you enroll on your own or with a licensed agent — we're paid by the carriers, so our guidance is free to you.

How do I get started?

Call or text (904) 654-5450, email info@merebenefits.com, or use our contact form. We'll set up a relaxed, no-pressure conversation — in person on the First Coast, or by phone and video.

Are you independent, or tied to one insurance company?

Independent. We aren't captive to a single insurer, so we compare the options across the carriers we represent and recommend what fits you — not what pays us most.

Will I have to change doctors?

Not if we can help it. Before recommending a plan we confirm your doctors are in-network and your prescriptions are covered, so keeping your care is part of the decision.

Can you help by phone and video, or only in person?

Both. We meet clients in person across Northeast Florida and Camden County, GA, and serve all 11 of our licensed states by phone and video.
